Chlamydia is the most common bacterial STI in the UK affecting mainly younger sexually active men and women. This is why we are offering free Chlamydia testing to local 15-24 year olds.
You request your free test from freetest.me.uk
Up to 70% of women and up to 50% of men infected with Chlamydia do not have symptoms. But when there are symptoms, men may have a discharge from the penis and sometimes a burning sensation when they pass urine. Women may also notice pain when passing urine, vaginal discharge, lower abdominal pain or abdominal pain during sex and heavy periods or bleeding between periods.
Chlamydia is easily treated with antibiotics.

Remember it is really important that Chlamydia is treated as soon as possible, otherwise it can cause: • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease • Infertility • Ectopic Pregnancies (where the baby grows in the fallopian tube which can be life threatening). • Increased risk of miscarriage and premature labour • Pneumonia & conjunctivitis in babies (which can lead to blindness) • Reactive arthritis (Reiters Syndrome).
Using a condom can help to stop someone getting an STI. Condoms offer the best protection against infection as well as pregnancy. Even if a girl is using contraception like the pill she still needs her partner to use a condom to prevent infection.
